today is the 14th of february and nothing to get too excited about

so my students wish me a happy valentine's day today. i sternly warn them not to do it again since i do not pay homage to catholic saints nor recognize any hallmark holidays set aside for them. i also echo to them the words of the chief, naked babies with weapons are not allowed and should be considered disturbing.

tonight i got to ref the last elem home game of the season. 6th grade won for a change. it was good to see. . . and a great way to end the home court season. funny to me was the way the other team would huddle at halftime, break by shouting "team" and then all fight each other at the rack of basketballs. perhaps there is an "i" in some teams. . .but maybe those teams don't win a whole lot.

tomorrow is "friend day". . .don't forget. the day after is probably also an important holiday, followed by many other important holidays. if almost every day is a holiday, shouldn't we be celebrating the days that aren't holidays?

more later. . .

peace and java
