skype
for those who like instant messaging, you need to look into skype. not only is it a great im program, but it also does great with instant voice communication - better than aim talk. the quality is almost as good as a telephone. it is free for computer-to-computer use and is available for computer-to-telephone (for a small fee). it is so easy to use, that my 2 year old warrior child can do it. obviously you need to have a microphone for your computer. . .and a headset makes it a lot easier to use.
hands-free im is definitely hip.
watching an old video (taped from tv) and i kept cracking up at the commercials. isn't it amazing how sad things were then in comparison to where they are and yet we thought it was cool back then. another thing that i was thinking about a few weeks ago that is along the same lines, isn't it amazing how certain slogan/commercials stand out in our minds more than others. some are more quoted than others. some of the ones that popped into my mind instantly were: priceless, where's the beef, got milk?, and wazzzup. perhaps others stick out to you. . .let me know (email).
perhaps one of the lamest gift ideas i have ever heard of is naming a star after someone. though i'm sure the idea brought some "genius" a lot of money, what difference does it make if somewhere in some book your name is written down in reference to a star? speaking as one who has a very prominent star named after him (the one on the flag of israel), it really isn't that big of a deal. the only truly great thing about it is that it doesn't take up "space" in your house or just sit around collecting "dust".
here's a question that has puzzled me for a while: why hasn't netzero changed its name? for the longest time they bragged about keeping the internet free. . .and now that they charge for their service, don't you think they should be called net$9.99?
looking back over the past years i realize that i am becoming someone that i never thought i would become. . .not just old, but stale. i've done things lately that i never thought i would do, such as drink diet coke and enjoy it, eat wheat bread and enjoy it, and drink coffee while wishing i hadn't put any sugar in it. i'm starting to freak myself out. fortunately, the warrior child is doing his best to keep me young. this year i turn 30. . .maybe. i'm still thinking about it.
more later. . .
peace and java
