i was watching my sister's kids a few weeks back. they and my kids wanted to help me with the yard work. here are the promised pictures (just a few days late!!!)

then, after they raked and swept up the leaves, they wanted to toss them in the air.

on the 22nd, a group of ladies and kids went to apple charlies. it was a wet, rainy day, but we still had a lot of fun. thankfully the hayride had a canopy on it so that we could still enjoy it.

auburn really gets into her spaghetti.

salvation questions

praise: my brother-in-law's appointment with his neurologist went well this morning. doctor said everything looks good considering all that jon has been through. even said that God has been good to him. such a praise.

prayer: my parents and the dawsons are still in africa. please pray for them as they will be out of the country until next friday (7th).

playfulness: landon has been asking a lot of questions in regards to spiritual matters, specifically sin and salvation. last night dave and landon were discussing the sin in his heart. this morning, landon got up and went and found dave and asked "daddy, can you pray that Jesus will take the sin out of my belly?"  he just told me that the sin wasn't in his heart anymore but that Jesus was. i'm not jumping at that as a salvation decision. but i do believe the Spirit is working in his life and that thrills me more than words can tell.

auburn, on the other hand, is growing more defiant and strong-willed with each passing day. her allergies and feeling miserable is not helping the matters any as she is easily upset when she's "under the weather". i have to say though, landon's tenderness is helping me not to feel as desparate as when landon started showing his sinfulness. i know that if we keep instructing her to the best of our ability and trust God to do the work, we're doing the best thing for her. please continue to pray for both of them in regards to their relationship with God.

trunk

praise: kids allergies do not seem to be as bad. landon is doing better than auburn, though.

prayer: we'll be traveling to ohio on friday. my parents are on their way to tanzania right now. they will be gone for 2 1/2 weeks. please pray for their safety as they visit some missionaries. http://spreadinghisword.org/mwanzamaandiko/

playfulness: landon was talking about an elephant tonight. i didn't catch the entire story, but i did catch this funny comment "she had a trunk in her nose." i'm wondering if he thinks that the "trunk" is like a car trunk, and it's located in the elephant's long nose.

kids, nieces and nephew "helped" me with yard work today. will post pictures later (possiby tomorrow).

new poll should be coming soon. keep your eyes open for it, and please participate. =)

endtables

praise: auburn does not currently have a cold-just allergy issues. we now have "claritin time" everyday for the kids.

prayer: the kids are exhausted, but not sleeping their best because of the allergies. please pray that they will start sleeping better.

playfulness: the kids decided that it would be great fun to play in our living room endtables this morning. they pulled all of the blankets out, and each crawled in one.

sorry about the short blog, but i just fell asleep with my hands on the keyboard!!! =) have a great night!

peanut butter

praise: we all were well enough to attend church last night.

prayer: auburn allergies have seem to "transformed" into something else. she has an appointment today at 3:45.

playfulness: i was in the living room taking care of some business while auburn was strapped in her booster seat eating lunch. what i didn't realize was that the open peanut butter jar was within arms reach. the following pictures tell the rest of the story.

landon had a similar experience about the same age, only with vaseline. (he didn't eat it-just spread it all over our kitchen floor and refrigerator.) i think i prefer the peanut butter.

landon was getting ready for church last night and had a little problem with his shorts. notice where the snap is.

mrs. potato head (a.k.a. auburn smith)

hope your day is filled with as much "excitement" as mine!

gone

praise: we've made it two days without dave. kids are surviving.

prayer: please pray that dave would have a safe return sunday night.

playfulness: auburn used the big girl potty twice today. she loves it!!! i can't express how excited i am about the thought of her being potty trained by age 2.

kids woke up this morning looking for their daddy. auburn looked in the bed and in the shower for him. they really miss him. auburn asked for him several times today, and landon said that he thinks he'll never see him again. they will be thrilled when he gets back. so will i.

anyway, it's 2 minutes to midnight. i just finished watching "singing in the rain". should have gone to bed hours ago.

kids' caricatures

praise: we had a wonderful time at the zoo yesterday. auburn even was excited this time.

prayer: dave will be traveling to denver on thursday with a mission team from our church. they will be helping the parkers with the first service of high country baptist church. mom smith began teaching today. she is teaching first and second grade. please pray that she has the physical strength to do this.

playfulness: we had the kids' caricatures done yesterday while at the zoo. we will be hanging them in their playroom.

the kids love to play on the swingset in our back yard. landon was helping by pushing auburn in her baby swing. she loved it. then they both wanted me to get on the rocket rider with them.

auburn tried really hard to put her own socks on last night. when i would put them on for her, she would immediately take them off and try to put them on herself.

have a great day!!!

crazy times

praise: the weather is wonderful!!!!  i love these mild days, not too hot, not too cold, just right.

prayer: the kids and i have been experiencing some unpleasant physical poblems recently. i think i am going to take the kids to the doctor on tuesday. we'll see...

playfulness: lots of things have happened since my last blog. which of course, means lots of pictures as well. here it goes.  =)

i was teaching landon where his nostrils were. after he "learned", he stated, "these are my ostriches!"

landon was playing with the water squirt bottle that i use for ironing. he was having fun squirting auburn with it, which she found entertaining as well. after they played for a while, i heard landon just howling with laughter. what i found was truly hilarious, but messy. he had figured out how to get the top off and had dumped the entire bottle over auburn's head. her hair and shirt were completely drenched, but she wasn't crying!

landon and i were working on a hidden pictures puzzle that came with stickers to put over the items once he found them. i was amazed when we came near the end that he eyed his sticker sheet and said "we only have three more left!" he didn't even need to count them.

auburn was given some pizza to eat. she looked at it and said "hot, hot" then blew on it. very cute.

landon decided recently that pens were for writing on himself, his car bed, and a book.

another one of landon's recent feats: dressing himself. for the most part, he does well. occasionally something ends up backwards (most often his undergarments).

auburn is a great stuffer. she loves stuffing things down the sides of the couch. i think she sometimes does it to keep toys away from landon.

landon was trying to be a helper at the store the other day. unfortunately, the box of spaghetti that he picked up was open. as a result, landon and i spent five minutes picking up 2lbs. of noodles!

while watching "mother goose goes to the zoo" landon declared, "this is kind of funky!"

auburn loves to play with daddy's shoes.

what cuties!!

baby aubrey came to visit us. she played in auburn's crib for a while. i expected auburn to be a real jellyfish, but she did very well.

no one ever taught this girl what to do with a hockey stick and puck-she figured it out.

we went to daddy's office to each lunch with him. what fun!!

the kids love to put things on their heads!! landon frequently puts pop can boxes on his head. he even emptied a pepsi box once so that he could play with it. auburn is always trying to dress herself, but the pajama pants just weren't going on!

the kids were talking on the phone to each other a few nights ago. auburn had called dave's phone with my phone and it just became one long hysterical conversation.

auburn was given a new doll from the karamons. she LOVES it!!!!

our kids are soooo crazy. auburn tried for a long time to get in the stroller. i finally set it up so that she could enjoy it. the funny thing is, i remember landon doing a lot of the same things when he was her age. i have pictures of landon trying to crawl into the same stroller. landon posed as urkel without any prompting. we laughed heartily.

this last picture is my favorite one. have a great day.
