preeclampsia

praise: i'm very thankful for a good doctor who takes things seriously.

prayer: my doctor is starting to screen/watch me for preeclampsia. i've had swelling (minimal) for the past 4 days, even when i get up in the morning. he's pretty sure that i had it with landon, so he wants to watch it carefully. i'm very grateful for his concern and am planning on complying with all of his suggestions. i do not want to be in the hospital for a week again. please pray with us that i do not develop this complication again.

playfulness: landon was playing that his room was "church" today. very cute.

please vote in the new poll (put up last week).

have a great afternoon-i'm going to take a quick nap.

ta da!!!

praise: kids were well enough to go to church this morning. it's been at least 3 weeks since auburn went.

prayer: landon's friend, Dylan, has a cast on his leg. please pray that his leg heals correctly.

playfulness: i don't have many stories to tell (since i keep forgetting to write them down), but i do have some cute pics of auburn.

she decided to tuck the doggie in for a nap, and then tuck herself in.

auburn is quite the cheeser.

she starting lifting up her leg over and over again. we started saying "ta-da" each time she did it. she thought she was accomplishing something great.

landon's feat-he stood up from lunch and declared-"look what i can do". then he proceeded to jump up and down on one foot. he was very impressed with himself.

playing with daddy

praise: we initially qualify to have some work done on our house free of charge.

prayer: please pray that after the application process is complete, we will be able to have the work done.

playfulness: the kids love to play with daddy. when he comes home, they both will drop whatever they are doing and run to the front door. it's pretty cool to watch. here are some pics of recent play times. the first one is of a wrestling match.

auburn decided that she needed to tickle daddy.

ring around is always a favorite.

after dave gave the kids "horsey rides" on his back, they decided it was daddy's turn to take a ride.

some of you know that the kids had croup 2 weeks ago. dave and i took turns staying up with the kids propping them up so they could breathe. here is a picture of dave's shift when landon had it.

auburn is in the process of potty training. she loves her princess pants. the following is a picture of her with three pair on.

auburn decided that she needed to wear her new hat to bed last week. i snuck in to take a picture, and landon decided he needed to take one, too.

last friday night, the boys had a sleepover in landon's room. actually, dave set up the air mattress and stayed with landon. he even made balloon creations for landon. it was quite the party.

okay folks, i'm all caught up on pictures and stories. i'll try to be better, but once again, no promises. hope you have a wonderful day!

here we go

praise: both kids are asleep!!!!

prayer: both kids seem a little sick, again. landon was complaining of an upset stomach. dave and i have been discussing reducing his dairy again. not fun cooking times. auburn is still dealing with cold issues, after 2 weeks of it.

playfulness: i have much to write about. my goal is to post tonight, and again tomorrow night. but, who knows what tomorrow holds. here we go.

landon has been working on dressing himself recently, and has done fairly well. he frequently gets his clothes on backwards, but he's getting better. the funniest incident is when he forgot to take his pajama top off when he put his shirt on. he laughed at himself when i pointed it out. i guess what makes it funnier, is that i was notorious for doing such things when i was little.

one of his big accomplishments recently has been his ability and speed with which he has put all the pieces of perfection in the correct places. i actually was amazed at how quickly he figured it all out without any help.

you all know that landon loves to assume new identities. some of his most recent favorites have been dash, from the incredibles, and brother bear, from the berenstien bears. he's even gone so far as to insist that his ss teachers write the name of whoever he is that day on his paper instead of landon. just the other day, he was pretending he was sir hiss on disney's robin hood. here is a picture of him in the laundry hamper. he was pretending that he was the snake in the basket while robin hood and little john were pretending to be gypsies and robbing prince john.

the other day, landon informed me "i have a little sister growing in my belly!"

about 2 weeks ago, landon was running around his classroom at sunday school being silly. there were 2 six year old girls watching him. one leaned over to the other and declared "he has a crush on you!" i laughed heartily. the funny thing was, when they left the room, landon asked where they went. i guess he was basking in their attention to some degree, but i doubt that their assessment of the situation was anywhere near being accurate.

we purchased landon a new car seat last week. while putting it together, it became evident that it was going to be a source of contention between the kids. it even got to the point that auburn pulled landon out of it once we put it together and let him test it out in the living room. also in regards to this new seat, landon told me "i've got gum on me!" when i told him that he needed to get out if it after we finished our errands last week.

auburn has had equally as many funny moments recently. as you all know, she can be quite the girly girl. she loves to wash her hands, but frequently asks for hand cream after she's dried them. i don't remember if i've mentioned that her sunday school teachers found her using a crayon to try to put eye liner on. she also loves to have her nails painted. after finishing her nails last week, she walked off with her polish. when we took it away, she became very upset.

for her first birthday, she received a cabbage patch doll named marlene. daddy started calling it aunt spazzy. so, we've had name wars, me calling it marlene and dave calling it spazzy. last week, auburn made the final call when she asked me for "paddy". it took me a while to figure out what she was talking about, but i guess i now know whose side she's on!

i had to laugh last week when she fell down on her hand, stood up, and lifted her hand to me making a kissing sound. of course, i complied and kissed her boo-boo. i guess i can handle her siding with her dad about names if i still have the power to make owies go away with a kiss.

now for more pictures. here are more pictures of landon's new room.

landon enjoys water painting at his table while auburn naps, and they both love to sit and color.

landon has also enjoyed his new "reading room".

auburn has been doing pretty well in her big girl bed. i love watching her run to bed when we tell her to. it's very cute.

landon and auburn were playing beauty and the beast in the next picture. this was taken after they "danced."

after seeing landon playing hockey with his roller skates on...

auburn decided she needed to find some as well. she ended up using landon's car slippers (that appeared to have wheels on them) and a spoon from the kitchen as a stick.

well, that's all folks! until tomorrow.....

good morning

praise: auburn and landon both slept well last night. which means-so did i.

prayer: auburn seems to have an infection of some type. dr. appt. today at 2:15.

playfulness:
my brother came over to help me paint landon's room. that was a big help. kids are thoroughly enjoying having their own rooms to play in. they had a hard time adjusting to sleeping in separate rooms, but are doing much better with it now.

both kids love to play on landon's bunk bed. we've moved his matress to the top and will be creating a "reading center" underneath for him.

we celebrated Christmas on the 18th at my parents'. kids loved their gifts. here's a few pics.

auburn received the doll from my brother and his girlfriend, amanda. she still loves it as much as the picture shows-plays with it every day.

when we got home, the kids opened a few more gifts. my parents had bought landon some gifts at herrods when they were in london, but didn't want his cousins to see it since they were opening gifts later. so, we brought them home to open. we also let auburn open her gift from my grandparents since it went with her doll.

one of landon's gifts was a puzzle car track. you can rearrange the pieces to make different tracks and a little car travels the track. landon decided that mr. incredible needed to jump all over the track while the car was moving.

auburn loved her cradle from my grandparents.

here's a pic of auburn in her new sweater (also from my grandparents). i let her pick out her outfit and she picked the purple sweater.

this is one of my favorite pics of auburn. she looks beautiful in this new outfit. notice the gloves. she and landon received new mittens in their stockings, and they both insisted on putting them on when they opened them.

we celebrated christmas with mom smith and jon on the 24th. landon was awed by the presents under the tree when he came out.

of course, candy is always a big hit with landon. especially a wonka bar (from grandma smith). landon loves watching the old charlie and the chocolate factory.

auburn received two new jumpers from grandma smith. she immediately tried to put her pink one on.

landon received clothes and mcdonalds food toys from my grandparents. he plays with the food all of the time.

we got auburn a baby doll carriage. landon discovered that you could ride in it. unfortunately for him, we told him he was too big. auburn loved the rides.

one of landon's stocking items was an old maid game. landon, dave and uncle jon were very cute sitting at landon's new table playing the game.

the first time dave and landon played in the snow-they made a large tunnel/fort. after many days of it melting, they decided they needed to go out and destroy it.

they then played in the remains. landon enjoyed throwing snowballs up in the air.

this ball was almost too big for landon to pick up, and he didn't get it very far in the air.

i guess you could call their next creation a totem pole. if you look closely at the top, it kind of looks like an eagle.

this creation didn't last long either.

auburn cried almost the entire time he was outside. she still doesn't have any boots that fit. i need to go get her some.

that's all for pictures right now. if i remember some of the funny things landon has said recently, i'll post them. i've gotten out of the habit of writing them down-as a result, i never remember them.

have a great day!

Happy New Year!

praise: dave is feeling better after an encounter with a sneaky mushroom on his pizza this past friday night. (for those of you who don't know-he's allergic to them.)

prayer: our church's missions conference geared toward college students is this week. http://www.studentglobalimpact.com/

playfulness: i wish i had pictures ready to post, but i do not. i have to confess that i have just put them on the back burner. many apologies to all of you who check regularly for updates. we've been in the middle of much cleaning/reorganizing/redecorating at the house. landon's room is practically done (except for his reading nook and setting up his toy box). auburn's room has been rearranged (crib taken down, toddler bed put up, etc.). i still need to make her curtains, repaint her picture frames and hang them, wash walls, etc. we've also cleaned the carpets in their rooms and the hallway-tomorrow or tuesday the living room will hopefully be tackled. in other words, i'm a bit tired. but such is life. anyway... i need to head to bed. hope your year will be wonderful. i'm looking forward to having a thoroughly clean house at the beginning of the year!

btw, dalton is kicking his hello to all of you!
