fun times

praise: mom smith and jon made it up and back safely over the thanksgiving holiday.

prayer: i've had quite a few headaches this past week. please pray that these will subside.

playfulness: landon enjoyed wrestling with uncle jon. dave jumped in on the action, but i wasn't able to snap any good pictures of the three of them.

my mom has pictures of me with a utensil hanging out of my mouth. actually, i think she has several shots like that. i thought this picture would be one she would enjoy.

the kids love to climb in bed together. dave thinks landon is acting like a jr. higher in this-having the need to make a goofy face.

we put up our christmas tree the friday after thanksgiving (actually, landon and i put up the tree). i'll try to remember to put up a finished tree in a future post.

yesterday, i cut out coupons and was throwing the remains of the papers in a pile on the floor. the kids discoverd that it was much fun to play in the papers. i don't think i have ever seen auburn as excited as she was playing with the scraps. she has always loved paper. ever since she has been able to scoot, she has gone for paper.

have a wonder-fantabulous day!

new category: ponderings

praise: i was able to get right in for an eye exam this morning. when i called to schedule on thursday, they told me they were booked, but the employee told me they still did walk-ins, though.

prayer: auburn has a cold.

playfulness: kids had small cold on wednesday. landon decided to stuff a hankie in one nostril to catch the drips.

the kids have been having bubble baths. here's auburn tonight. she loves bubbles!

today, while at my eye exam, one of the ladies waiting on me noticed my avon pin on my coat. she asked me to bring her a catalog when i pick up my new glasses. she said that she loves avon and hasn't been able to find a representative. i knew i liked that pin!

ponderings: this is a new section where i will be writing some of my musings. here it goes!

a while back, i knew of a person who, after being confronted about an improper attitude that had been expressed, responded with, "but i thought the people i was addressing knew my heart!" i have to say, my first thought was, "yes, we know what you want to be, but the problem was that your heart was what was being seen." (Jeremiah 17:9-the heart is deceitful about all things, and desperately wicked, who can know it? Matthew 12:34b-for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Proverbs 23:7a-for as he thinketh in his heart, so is he;) so many times, we get comfortable in life and we think we are better than we really are. i know this happens frequently in my life. i forget what a wicked sinner i am, and i somehow justify wrong attitudes. the aforementioned situation was such a reminder to me, that, no matter how much i pursue Godliness, i still need to realize that my old nature seeks every opportunity to show itself.

pumpkin poo

playfulness cont'd: i just had to add this. last week jenna came and told me that my pumpkin sitting on the endtable in the living room smelled like poo_. i thought she was crazy and went and checked the two still in diapers. well,.... i should have checked out the pumpkin. i was going around throwing out pumpkins today and discovered that she was right. the pumpkin was a big ball of mush that had a very scented puddle underneath it. YUCK!!!!

along that line of pumpkin humor, we had a squirrel chew the top off of our pumpkin (on our outside steps) and clean out the inside. landon, however, decided that a lion had been the culprit. after telling him that there were no lions around to do the job, we decided that it must have been a "lion squirrel".

auburn's hair

praise: kids are down for a nap.

prayer: i have an abundance of things that i need to complete before thanksgiving. landon frequently complains about his belly hurting. i took him to the doctor last week, and she said there was no medical reason for him to be complaining (after doing a thorough exam).

playfulness: my big highlight of the week was when i earned my AVON pin. didn't know i was even in the "running" for it. you acquire it if you sell a certain amount of products in your first three campaigns. i was surprised when i opened my order up last wednesday and saw the congratulatory note with the pin. here's a pic of it on my coat.

landon had a funny the other day. he was in bed for his nap and wanted to listen to afraidika fever. i looked in the cd player, saw that it was the correct cd, turned the music on and then left the room. about 5 minutes later i heard him just bawling. after asking him what was wrong i was informed that it was cherish the moment and not his music. i then realized that it was and was very confused, i had just checked it! so... i opened the system up and found, to my amazement, that some little munchkin had put 3 cd's in, one on top of the other. afraidika fever was on top, but cherish the moment was on the bottom. after showing him the three cds, he thought it was funny and admitted to doing the deed. all was well after that and he was out shortly. good thing.

auburn and landon love cheetos. i found auburn in a chair next to the cart that i keep chips and such on, holding a bag of cheetos and taking the chip clip off. thankfully, i found her before the chips were all eaten.

auburn has also recently decided that she should be the one doing her own hair. here are some pics of the results.

i made a big mistake this past saturday. auburn's hair was finally long enough to put into real pigtails,

but dave had been after me to trim more off the front of her hair so that she could see when her hair wasn't up. i tried to give her a little bit of a face frame, but ended up cutting a chunk out of the back that i didn't mean too. the end result was that i had to cut quite a bit off to even things out. the only good thing about the mistake is that most of her hair is one length now and should be able to grow out that way. the mistake haircut is cute, in it's own way. i actually cried after i cut her hair. i loved the length it was.

the following picture is of landon's three year old sunday school class (also the one i teach). these kids are his best friends, aside from his cousins.

l to r, back row: kevin downing, pearson johnson, luke fressel, trevor sherf, landon, dylan winnberg, bryce fite

l to r, front row: lydia aloisi, megan flower, adelina elwart, jenna dobbertin, jenna georing, julia elwart
there is one more girl in his class, not pictured, alice tulloss. they are a fun bunch of kids!

leaves

praise: auburn's fever is down.

prayer: strength for dave as he completes all of his jobs.

playfulness: landon and auburn love to eat cheese. i'm not sure why, but they designated the wall by our kitchen window to sit and eat cheese at. landon doesn't do it as much, but auburn will typically go there. here's a pic of them in their spot. sometimes i wonder how auburn can see where she is going. i do her hair in the morning, but by night time, you usually can't tell.

i took landon and auburn to target with me the other day to spend my gift card. auburn picked a baby and landon picked a light saber. here's a pic of the sword fight that followed.

the five kids were matching the other day, so i thought i'd attempt some group shots in a "studio" setting. i was hoping to surprise grandma and grandpa with a cute one, but one never showed up. there were some "okay" ones, but no great ones. here's two of them.

today, we went outside and played in the leaves before the little ones took their naps. got some great pictures. here's a funny one of jordan running and jumping into the big pile.

i put the pile at the end of the slide so they could land in it. all 5 of the kids enjoyed it. here's some pics.

i love this one of landon!

hope you enjoyed the pics. don't get too used to me posting twice in a week!!! ha, ha!

long time no blog

praise: we've made it into our second trimester.

prayer: dave came home at lunch today and told me that he wasn't feeling well. i guess i kind of expected that since the other three of us had the stomach flu last week. his seems to be something different though.

playfulness: where oh where to begin. i guess i'll start as far back as october 13th. it was a big day. we went to the pumpkin patch with a bunch of friends. this is the third year that we have done it, and every year we get a picture of lydia aloisi, dylan winnberg and landon. here are the pics from the past three years. the giant scarecrow that they are sitting in front of is holding a sign that says "let's see how much you've grown!" how fitting.
   2003

   2004

   2005

here are a few other pictures from the patch.

landon with bryce fite.

kids also got to jump in a giant inflated pumpkin. landon loved it and had a hard time getting out, auburn was absolutely terrified and didn't last more than a minute. after the patch, we went to champaign park, had a picnic lunch and then swung at a pinata. i only have a picture of auburn participating.

later that same evening, we all headed over to cearserland to celebrate jenna's third birthday. it was a lot of fun. we took many pictures of auburn "racing" at one of the steering wheel rides, landon and dave on a motorcycle ride, auburn in a moving frog and jenna opening her gifts. for sake of space i won't be posting them all here. you'll just have to check our website for all of the october pictures. notice in the picture that the only person without a party hat is the birthday girl. she didn't want to wear it.

on the 21st, landon went to pumpkin party at trevor sherf's house. they are in the same class at church. they were to dress up and then they did all sorts of things at the party-decorated pumpkins, made pizza, watched "the great pumpkin", received lots of candy and a pumpkin straw. landon had fun, but i was told that he kept saying "i just want to play" during all of the organized activities. that's my son for you. one of the first things that he said when i picked him up was "we didn't get to play upstairs." i'm assuming that is where a lot of trevor's toys are.  anyway, here's a pic of landon dressed up as woody. he loved taking off his hat and saying "howdy pardner!" of course, he wouldn't say it when we arrived at the party.

dave's "studio" (a.k.a. basement office) is about 90% complete. we just need trim on the windows and the doors up. if you would like to see pics, visit dave's weblog. shortly after dave and his friend moved our old entertainment center into the office (which dave was using to house some of his equipment), i decided it didn't work in there. so i helped dave move it out of the office into the kids' playroom. they love sitting in it, and today my niece said something about puppets and it gave me the idea to make it into a puppet stage center. landon loves the one at the library. now i just need to find some puppets!!! here's the pic of the kids in it.

in sunday school, i've been telling the three year olds what the names of noah's three sons were just for the fun of seeing how much they could remember. at one point it told them that one of the names was funny because it was a type of food, ham. well, last week it all paid off, sort of. i asked the question "what were the names of noah's three sons?" and one of the girls piped up and said "turkey!!" close, but not quite.

sunday night, my wonderful husband showed his wonderfulness. i had a migraine and wasn't going to be able to make it to church in the evening. i also didn't have any of the pregnancy-allowed tylenol in the house. he went to the store for me, but not only did he get my tylenol, he remembered that i had wanted a paper that day and snuck in a snickers bar, too. i was quite impressed. thanks, hubby!

last night, we went to a store to shop for a new tv since dave's business one bit the dust. why buy one for the business when we could get a better one for our living room and sell the old one to the business? anyway, they gave the kids mylar balloons and suckers when we arrived since it was "trick-or-treat" night. auburn managed to lose two balloons to the ceiling during our time there. the employees were very sweet and kept giving her new ones.

after we went home, we hurried and got the kids somewhat dressed up to go over to my parents'. landon went as woody again and auburn went as a princess. thankfully, one of my friends had a tiara that we picked up on the way over. otherwise, she would not have looked too "princessy". here's the pic.

after my sister and her family arrived, things really picked up. a "highlight" (ok, not really) was when phillip knocked the box of cheez-its (that i had left on a chair) onto the carpeted floor. the kids thought it was great and immediately started scarfing them down. all was well until landon started to dance on them. at that point, the feast was called off.

this morning my neice was singing "the farmer in the deli, the farmer in the deli, hi, ho the dairy-o the farmer in the deli" i had to laugh.

landon and jenna thought it would be great fun to sit in a laundry basket together. i was very surprised that they fit in it.

have a great night!!!
